FAQ About Fortress Coconut Milk Powder

Q1. Why is there so much interest in organic foods world over?
A1. "Organic" simply means natural; that is natural foods without chemicals, preservatives, addictives, colourings, enhancements etc. Organic or natural foods are foods that have not been processed or over processed, and there is so much interest in it now because researchers have found out that there is a strong link between processed or chemical foods and obesity, cancer and other degenerative diseases. Processed food or foods that are not organic also increase our toxic loads which lead to damage of our organs. We have a lot of organic foods here in Nigeria e.g. green plantain, ofada or local rice, garri, vegetables, yam etc.

Q2. What FORTRESS is all about?
A2. FORTRESS is PURE COCONUT MILK POWDER derived from virgin or organic coconut oil; it has no added colouring or enhancers. FORTRESS coconut milk is a brand of Medium Chain Saturates or Triglycerides (MCTs) which is not associated with "bad" cholesterol, it provides energy, is easily digested and does not clog arteries like the Long Chain Saturates or Triglycerides (LCTs)

Q3. Can FORTRES be used the same way like every other milk?
A3. YES! It can be used; for tea/ coffee, pap and other cereals, even as a refreshing drink in hot or cold water. The good thing about FORTRESS coconut milk is that it is different from other milk because of it's fat content, process of digestion and effect it has on the body; while lots of people are lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy milk because of over processing, FORTRESS coconut milk does not give such allergy and the fat in it is referred to as the "GOOD FAT" the body needs to function.

Q4.You recommend Fortress for people trying to manage their weight when they are advised by health practitioners to minimize milk intake. What is the connection?
A4. The process of digesting coconut milk, the chemical chain and the reaction in the body is very different from other milk. I tell my clients to stay off milk especially the processed evaporated milk, condensed milk, full cream milk etc, because of its fat, sugar content and most of them have been homogenized, pasteurized or otherwise manipulated by modern food processing methods; but FORTRESS coconut milk does not fall in such category. The fat in MCTs or coconut milk does not circulate in the bloodstreams to the degree fats in other milk do. Consequently, they do not get packed away inside the fat cells or clog artery walls like other milk; MCTs is used to produce energy, not body fat and not arterial plague. Its chemical chain is smaller than long-chain fatty acid in most milk, so the body easily metabolizes it and it has a greater solubility in water. In fact, unlike LCT, pancreatic digestive enzymes and bile are not necessary for their digestion because of this. Coconut milk can provide quick and ready source of nutrition without taxing the enzyme system of the body. The body needs milk; for me, it has to be from coconut milk.

Q5. Why is the awareness about cholesterol growing?
A5. Cholesterol is a fatty, wax-like substance present in all animal cells and all animal products (no plant food contains cholesterol). It is necessary for hormone production, for digestion and to form cell membranes; but since the body makes all the cholesterol it needs, it is not an essential nutrient. To stay healthy you don't need to consume food with much cholesterol, and too much cholesterol can build up in the blood stream and deposited in the walls of blood vessels, especially the heart. This condition is called atherosclerosis, which limits blood flow and favors the formation of blood clots. There is the HDL (High Density Lipoprotein or Good Cholesterol), LDL (Low Density Lipoproteins or Bad Cholesterol) and VLDL (Very Low Density Lipoprotein). HDL protects the body while LDL is the primary culprit in increasing heart diseases. Most people have LDL because they consume 400 to 500 milligrams of dietary cholesterol in foods like dairy, liver, egg yoke, beef, crustaceous seafood (crab, shrimp and lobster) are very high in cholesterol though low in fat; the goal is not to take any cholesterol-laden food with saturated fat because it is the intake of bad saturated fat that stimulates the body's production of cholesterol. Actually bad saturated fat will raise your cholesterol level four times more quickly than dietary cholesterol itself.

Q6. How then can the consumption of Fortress reduce cholesterol in the body?
A6. I will reframe that question. How can FORTRESS reduce bad cholesterol in the body and increase good cholesterol? FORTRESS coconut milk does not encourage formation of LDL or bad cholesterol but actually increases HDL (good) cholesterol. While cholesterol is not about what people just think of it as totally bad, in reality the body actually needs the good (HDL) cholesterol to function. It is only the hydrogenated processed coconut milk that increases LDL (bad) and not virgin coconut milk, like FORTRESS COCONUT MILK.

Q7. Is a special diet needed for effective performance of Fortress?
A7. Yes, a good diet is needed, which should be part of our lifestyle; I will not like to call it special diet. A good diet consists of natural or organic food and not junk or processed food which millions of people feed on these days. You do not expect to see results with fitness when it is combined with a bad diet of constantly processed, bleached white rice, fried plantain and loads of fried meats or chicken, washed down with chemicals in a bottle called soft drink or minerals without regular physical activity. It has to be combined with "sound" nutrition or "functional nutrient" for result to show.

Q8. What other health benefit does Fortress offer?
A8. It aids a glowing complexion. In fact, the healthy fats in coconut deserve credit for the glowing, wrinkle-free skin of the native Hawaiians. Combined with a clean diet, it helps with weight loss and also helps in the absorption of calcium and other minerals and vitamins. It increases the immunity level of the body, that is why it is highly recommended for HIV patients; but it has to be virgin coconut milk.

Q9. Can pregnant women and growing infants take Fortress?
A9. Why do you think it is the "closest milk to mothers’ breast milk"? Of course, it can be taken by pregnant women, lactating mothers and infants. In some parts of the world, e.g. Thailand and Samoa, the food eaten by a mother after delivering her baby is a coconut dish called "vaisalo", the purpose is to nourish the mother and also to start her milk flowing quickly and abundantly.

Q10. Where can I buy Fortress?
You can get FORTRESS in supermarkets and Pharmaceutical stores nationwide but please NOT ALL COCONUT MILK IS VIRGIN COCONUT MILK, SO LOOK OUT FOR FORTRESS COCONUT MILK POWDER BY FIDSON PRODUCTS LIMITED.
